[When Gortash arrives, Avalon is sitting on the common room couch, watching what appears to be a large marble in their hand. Pine green threads swirl over the orb, dipping underneath its black surface and coming back up from its center. They slip it back into the small net bag hanging from their belt and get up to shake his hand.] Yes. And your name is Enver.

Gortash, if you please. [ First names when you have them are far too personal for just anyone to be whipping them about. He's learned in some cases that he's going to have to be mindful of that, here. ]

Gortash. [They call some people here by their last names, and some people by their first names, but they have no real pattern to it.]

So tell me about yourself. What brings Avalon to this vessel?

I was an inmate, and I graduated recently. [He probably wants to know what their Warden deal is, but they still have no idea.] I decided to stay and get a deal because I may be able to use it to help my species.

There are worse reasons. [ The notion of doing the same thing has crossed his mind, certainly. ] So I am to understand that for the next month I should be looking to you for any emergencies, yes?

Yes. As far as I know, the only thing I cannot do is ask for your abilities to be restored.

Don't believe I have lost any, so that issue takes care of itself.

What can you do? [It must be safe enough that the Admiral trusted him with it, but they feel responsible for at least having the information.]

What can you do that falls outside of typical human capabilities? [Avalon corrects themself, their tone and expression still neutral.]

As far as I know, nothing. [ He's not expecting to get any of the boons back that came from Bane, and everything from before...well, a moot point. ]

[chaos_drifter]

In that case, do you need some form of protection? I could ask the Admiral to make you intangible if someone attacks you, or something similar. [If they knew him better, they would consider offering him weapons, but they would prefer not to do that yet.]

[closeyourfist]

I'm sure you mean well, but that sounds like the sort of thing a devil offers. [ A glower. ] Guaranteed to have a hidden cost. I'd rather a conventional weapon if anything.

As far as I know, the worst that can happen is that he will refuse. It does not have a hidden cost that I know of, but I understand the hesitation.

I can give you a weapon, but if I do so, I would likely restrict it. [They would rather not be indirectly responsible for a murder.]

I imagined you would. I seek a means to better defend myself and nothing more.

...Ranged is preferred.

Would a gun that can only be fired in self-defense serve your purpose?
